HM Lord-Lieutenant visits Reading business Tower Cold Chain to present Queen’s Award
Employees at Tower Cold Chain saw off a hugely successful year in style, after being presented with the prestigious Queen’s Award for International Trade at a celebration ceremony at its headquarters in Theale, Reading.
Tower Cold Chain won the 2022 Queen’s Award for Enterprise for outstanding growth in international trade.
Since announcing the award win earlier this year, the company has further expanded the reach of its pharmaceutical temperature-controlled containers, with the opening of new distribution hubs in Los Angeles, Chicago, Milan, Amsterdam, Incheon, and Frankfurt.
Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire, Mr James Puxley, presented Tower’s CEO, Niall Balfour, with the award and grant of appointment at the company’s 26,000 sq. ft premises, which features a special Innovation Centre and environmental test chambers for the qualification and development of new product ranges.
Niall Balfour thanked the team present at the ceremony telling them that the award “is a tribute to the expertise and hard work of the entire Tower team.”
“We are tremendously proud to receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, which recognises our international growth and focus on meeting our customers global supply chain needs,” said Balfour.
“We have continued to invest to drive our growth strategy, with our staff numbers increasing fivefold over the last 3 years. It is Tower’s vision to become the number-one cold chain shipping facility of choice world-wide. This award is about celebrating and marking the efforts of our global network.”
